Bursary Details

 

The SEMT is seeking applications from investigators for funding of up to a maximum of  £1,000.00  to fund a suitable Electron Microscopy project.

 

This funding may be used to pay ONE or MORE honoraria. This may be for consumables, small equipment, scientific meeting attendance expenses or access time on an Electron Microscope.

 

If you wish to apply, you are asked to submit;

 

   A one page project proposal, including time scale.

  A letter from a suitable referee/supervisor.

   A letter of agreement from the Head of Department     where the work will be carried out.

 

You will be asked to submit a short interim summary report half-way through the project time-line to show how the work is progressing.

 

The SEMT would ask that the successful candidate present a short oral presentation on their completed work at an appropriate SEMT meeting.

 

Any publication resulting from this funding should appropriately acknowledge the financial assistance of the SEMT.

Don Claugher was a scientist and Head of the Electron Microscope Unit at the Natural History Museum. He was an active committee member of the SEMT for many years where he held positions of both Chair and Treasurer and more recently he was appointed as an advisor to the Society. Don sadly passed away in August 2005 and the SEMT would like to remember him for his enthusiasm for the Society and his dedication to Electron Microscopy

 

 

Members of the SEMT committee are excluded from applying as they will constitute the panel of judges.
